LESSON OF THE DAY 1184

Ayahs of the Day:
Are you secure from the One in heaven causing the earth to swallow you as it quakes? Or are you secure from One in heaven sending a storm against you so you will know how My warning is? Those before them scoffed too-------and how was My reproval! [67: 16,17,18]

Hadith of the Day:
The believer's shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his sadaqa. [Tirmidhi]

Wise Quote of the Day:
Abu Yazid was once asked why he regarded fasting so supreme. He replied, "Had the Pharaoh known hunger he would not have declared himself God. And Korah would never have been so rebellious had he endured the pain of starvation." [Al-Hujwiri]

Guidance of the Day:
Show delight and pleasure when something good befalls the Muslims, such as the arrival of rains, lowering of prices, or victory over aggressors or disbelievers. Be sad and grieved when hardship befalls them such as epidemics, rising prices, and seditions. Entreat God to relieve them of such trials. Yet you should accept His decree and ordinance.

The Messenger of God, may blessings and peace be upon him, has said: 'The one who is not interested in the affairs of the Muslims is not one of them.' And: 'The believers are, in their mutual affection and sympathy, as one body; when one of its organs falls ill the rest of the body is mutually affected with fever and sleeplessness.' [Al-Haddad, The Book of Assistance]

Food for Thought:
It is one thing to mourn for sin because it exposes us to hell,
and another to mourn for it because it is an infinite evil;
one thing to mourn for it because it is injurious to ourselves,
and another thing to mourn for it because it is wrong and offensive to God.
It is one thing to be terrified; another, to be humbled.
