LESSON OF THE DAY 881

Ayahs of the Day:
These are signs of the Book full of wisdom, guidance and mercy for those who do good, those who pray regularly and give alms and who are certain of the Hereafter. They are following guidance from their Lord, and they are the ones who thrive. [31: 2,3,4,5]

Hadith of the Day:
A person is united with the people he loves. [Bukhari]

Wise Quote of the Day:
It is better that the injustices of others stand than that our own injustices should stand. [Abdul Hakeem Murad]

Guidance of the Day:
Freedom is the corner stone of all great nations. Freedom is the pinnacle of spirituality. And freedom is the most basic and essential human right. What is freedom? Freedom is viewed as the power, the strength, or merely the convenience to choose. This notion is false.

Freedom is not simply the circumstances that allow you to do whatever you want. Freedom is not only the opportunity to choose. Freedom is the strength of character to choose and to do what is right. With this in mind, ours is not an age of freedom, but an age of slavery. It is subtle, but it is real. The foundation of freedom is not power or choice. Freedom is upheld not by men and women in government, but by people who govern themselves. [Kelly, The Rhythm of Life]

Food for Thought:
To expect life to be tailored to our specifications is to invite frustrations. The resistance to the unpleasant situation is the root of suffering. People are lucky and unlucky according to the ratio between what they get and what they have been led to expect.
