LESSON OF THE DAY 1137

Ayahs of the Day:
The rule of the heavens and the earth belongs to God, and matters depend on God. God introduces night into day, and day into night; and God knows what is in the hearts. Believe in God and the messenger of God, and spend of what We have made you inheritors to. For those of you who do have faith and expend, there is a great reward. [57: 6,7]

Hadith of the Day:
God and His angels, the dwellers of the heavens and of the earth, even an ant in its hole and fish (in the depth of the sea), invoke blessings on (a scholar) who teaches people goodness. [Tirmidhi]

Wise Quote of the Day:
Surrender yourselves before God in the manner of the devout saints; then God will hold you just as dearly as He did the devout who went before you. [Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilani]

Guidance of the Day:
The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can't find them, make them. Living based on a purpose is life-affirming and renewing. A purpose can help us find the courage to go on, no matter what the problems we confront, and the courage to combat despair and discouragement.

Any new step-----a new commitment, goal, hobby, friend, plan, or interest-----can make a difference and can reawaken us to a purposeful living apart from our pain. Thus actualizing a simple plan to learn a new subject or quit smoking or keep a journal or build a bookcase can turn our lives around. [Tatelbaum, You Don't Have to Suffer]

Food for Thought:
Remember not only to say the right thing in the right place, but far more difficult still, to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment. He that composes himself is wiser than he that composes a book. He that won't be counseled can't be helped.
