LESSON OF THE DAY 849

Ayahs of the Day:
God initiates creation, then repeats it; then you will be returned to God. And on the Day when the Hour will be established, the criminals will sink deep in despair. [30: 11,12]

Hadith of the Day:
Oppose the desires of the world by pious asceticism. This will bring comfort both to your body and to your heart and mind. [Tabarani]

Wise Quote of the Day:
The key to dignity in this life is obedience to Allah and the key to getting ready for the Hereafter is having short hopes. [Imam al Mannawi]

Guidance of the Day:
The truth about friendship is this: We learn more from our friends than we ever will from books. Sooner or later, our standards come to rest with the standards of our friends. Nothing influences us more than our peer group. The people you surround yourself will tell me something about who you are or something about who you will shortly become.

The people we surround ourselves with either raise or lower our standards. They either help us to become the-better-version-of-ourselves or encourage us to become lesser version of ourselves. We become like our friends. No man becomes great on his own. No woman becomes great on her own. The people around them help to make them great. We all need people in our lives who raise our standards, remind us of our essential purpose, and challenge us to become the-best-version-of-ourselves. [Kelly, The Rhythm of Life]

Food for Thought:
Friendships aren't perfect, and yet they are very precious. If you expect perfection from other people, your whole life is a series of disappointments, grumbling and complaints.
