LESSON OF THE DAY 42

Ayah of the Day:
No soul dies without the permission of Allah, and at a term appointed. He who desires the reward of this world shall have it from Us; and he who desires the reward of the Hereafter shall have it from Us. And swiftly shall We reward those that (serve Us with) gratitude. [3: 145]

Hadith of the Day
:
One who sincerely supplicates to Allah for martyrdom is raised by Him to the status of a martyr although he dies in his bed. [Muslim]

Wise Quote of the Day:
The thing that will aid one in learning fiqh is peace of mind, which is acquired by reducing the attachments, by taking what is essential and leaving what is not. [Imam abu Hanifah]

Guidance of the Day:
Ghafla is heedlessness, which is being careless concerning what God has commanded one to do and has prohibited. It is a terrible lack of attention to what is infinitely more important in one's life than material goods. It is the one pathogen that breeds all the diseases of the heart. A heedless person is easily fooled and is diverted away from what is essential and consequential toward what is ephemeral and ultimately pointless.

One of the characteristics of human beings is forgetfulness, which further implies that we need to be reminded often, hence the centrality of repetition in spiritual practices. The most menacing forms of heedlessness are: being heedless of divine purpose, accountability, and the resurrection, ultimate standing, and judgement in the Hereafter.

The full manifestation of these events are veiled to us now by the thin wall of death, the timing of which is a secret that hovers above the heads of all men and women, Even though the reality of these things is hidden in the realm of the unseen, what is expected of us is to receive and accept what the Prophet (peace be upon him) came with.

Food for Thought:
Our work is the presentation of our capabilities. One of the test of leadership is to recognize the problem before it becomes an emergency.
