Ayahs of the Day:
And if you are slain or die , in the way of Allah, forgiveness and mercy from Allah are far better than all they could amass. And if you die, or are slain, it is unto Allah that you are brought together. [3: 157, 158]

Hadith of the Day:
It is part of excellence of a person's Islam that he should discard that is of no benefit to him either in this world or the Hereafter. [Tirmidhi]

Wise Quote of the Day:
People count with self satisfaction the number of times they have recited the name of God on their prayer beads, but they keep no beads for reckoning the idle words they speak. [Imam Ghazali]

Guidance of the Day:
The fourth cure for heedlessness is the recitation of the Quran. Reciting it with tadabbur (reflection) awakens the heart. But plain recitation is beneficial as well. Learned Muslims have recommended that a person recite one-thirtieth of the Quran (juz) every day.

New Muslims should strive with their utmost to learn how to read the text of the Quran. Meanwhile, one is advised to listen to the well known Quran reciters on tape or read a good English translation until one is able to read the Arabic. It is important for one to regularly be engaged with the Book of God.

The actual sounds of the language of the Quran, its breath taking rhythm and words, is like medicine. When one recites the Quran, one moves his or her tongue pronouncing revealed words of the Lord of the heavens and the earth. And these words have a sound. People are often amazed when they hear the Quran for the first time, amazed at the sound. So it is important to know that the beauty of the Quran comprises the meanings as well as the sound. [Purification of the Heart]

Food for Thought:
Happiness doesn't come from doing easy work, but from the after glow of satisfaction that comes after the achievement of a difficult task that demanded our best.
